How about you only watch TV when you boost the Media controllers/corporations? Wink

Consider the following facts:

People who watch 3 hours of television per day are twice as likely to be obese than people who 1 hour of television per day or less. Remember the average American watches 4½ hours per day.

Parents spend an average of 38 minutes per week in meaningful conversation with their children, compared with watching 31½ hours of TV.

Children watch an estimated 18,000 murders on TV by the time they turn 18 and over 200,000 acts of violence. (Actually, researchers may need to revise those numbers upwards because over the past couple years television viewing has gone up AND the sex and violence content on television has gotten worse.)

According to a long-term study, watching large amounts of television violence at age 8 was the strongest predictor of aggression 22 years later--stronger even than exhibiting violent behavior as children.

Sexual references on TV have DOUBLED since 1998. This includes programs most popular among teenagers. Among the top 20 watched shows by teens, which include Desperate Housewives, The O.C., and One Tree Hill, 70 percent include discussions and depictions of sexual behavior.

A RAND study showed that teens who watched large amounts of television with sexual content were more likely to experiment sexually in the following year.

Conversely, according to a recent study, couples who had a television set in their bedrooms had intercourse half as often as couples who had no TV in their bedrooms.

Marketers deliberately target young children for their advertising campaigns encouraging them to NAG their parents for products. The lovely term for this is the “Nag Factor.”

The “Nag Factor” was responsible for an estimated $300 billion in sales in 2001.

(You may wish to take a break. . .there’s more)
According to a recent trio of studies, excessive TV watching affects reading, schoolwork, and long-term success in life.

Television programs exploit the “orienting response” in order to compel you to look at your TV.

Researchers in Australia found that the left-brain "sort of went to sleep" once TV was switched on.

According to Scientific American, watching television is addictive.

Television causes ADHD symptoms in young children.

The more TV people watch, the less they are involved in civic and community activities, undermining democracy.

Only FIVE corporations control most of the US media: Disney, Time Warner, Bertelsmann of Germany, Murdoch's News Corporation, and Viacom (formerly CBS).

News programs are contaminated with fake news. Governments and corporations produce propaganda pieces disguised as real news. They are called VNR's, or Video News Releases.
