Last night's chat session brought us to focus on the Aurora Borealis otherwise known and the Northern lights. This took Yasmine and I to explore a little further into this fascinating and BEAUTIFUL phenomenon of the display of colors in the night sky found in both poles and into some of the wonderful images in books and on the internet of those lights.

Ofcourse one thing always leads to another and who knows WHAT this will lead us to but here is just a very short explanation linking magnetism to the cause of those lights.

Aurora are spectacular curtains of light that ripple through the night sky above the opoles. The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis is seen over the North Pole and the Southern lights or Aurora Australis over the South Pole. Auroras occurs because there is a gaping hole in Earth's magnetic field over the poles, where linesof magnetic force funnel in toward them. Every now and then, charged particles from the Sun stream in through the hole and cannon into air molecules at tremendous speed. The violent collisions make all the air molecules glow so brightly they light up the sky.

Welcoming anything in connection to this to put more pieces together of our expansive universe.

The Double Helix Nebula is the reddish inset; the larger-field greenish image is a shorter-wavelength infrared image made recently with the IRAC camera on the Spitzer Space Telescope. Both images are false color images. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/UCLA

The Helix Nebula cannot escape the UV-hunting eye of the Galaxy Evolution Explorer, as shown in this image taken by the orbiting space telescope. This image was release on April 28, 2005.
Looks like a giant eye.

Eye of God?
