We have been researching and looking into constructing our own Eco Home for several years, and since mohammad [My hubby] studied this field, he became inspired by Architect Nader Khalili, on Environmental Homes and more aware Living, as well as his own vision of the shape of things to come.
Architect Nader Khalili [who happened to be Iranian like Mohammad] is a Man in his lifetime who managed to begin a movement and inspire a new Vision of how we should be living in this New World, a concept built around living in a humble way in harmony with Nature around us. He died unexpectedly of the flu last march 2008. A friend of ours managed to complete the last apprenticeship course that was taught by Nader Khalili, before he passed on.
please check out his work if you haven't already.
Its time to re-build a Global community thats is alligned with the natural rhythm of nature.

More about Nader Khalili
Nader Khalili (February 22, 1936-March 5, 2008) was an Iranian-born architect, writer, and humanitarian who received his philosophy and architectural education in Iran, Turkey and the United States.
In 1970 he was licensed by the State of California and has practiced architecture in the U.S. and around the world. Khalili was known for his innovation into the Geltaftan Earth-and-Fire System known as Ceramic Houses and the Earthbag Construction technique called Super Adobe. He was involved with Earth Architecture and Third World Development since 1975, and is a U.N. consultant for Earth Architecture.
He developed his Super Adobe system in 1984, in response to a NASA call for designs for human settlements on the Moon and Mars. The project had been completely theoretical until the Persian Gulf War when refugees were sent into Iran. When this occurred Khalili partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and applied his research to emergency shelters.
In 1991 he founded the California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture (Cal-Earth), where he taught his Super Adobe building technique. Although Khalili's work received mixed support in his native country, arguably due to social paradigms and political unrest, he became a prominent American leader on the value of ethically based architecture, where the needs of the homeless are considered above all else.
Khalili has written books on his architectural philosophy & techniques as well as translations of poetry from Rumi, the poet he considered instrumental in his design inspiration.
Nader Khalili died on Wednesday, March 5th, 2008.
peace

Yasmine I am also very fond of CAL-Earth.
Their website is truly inspiring.
Thank you for bringing it here.
I am contemplating using some of their techniques in our garden and maybe later building a small studio.
Are you going to any of their classes? Have you tried their books and DVDs?
Blessings

Hi Cristina,
Thanks for relpying, actually its the method my husband Mohammad learnt in Iran when he was still studying, they teach it still over there because you still find these structures in their original and ancient form, specially in the City of Yazd in Iran. They are still built today because of their energy efficiency you don't need to heat or cool inside them!
Khalili based his structures on this old and beautiful construction, I do believe we will ALL go back to living in balance and allignment with the Nature around us, we have been living on top of each other for way too long ripping up farms and up rooting trees in order to sustain our ostentatious tastes and comfort, and short lived empty material dreams.
I truly admire anyone who makes the choice to live this way, good for you cristina! I will be close behind, just still not sure exactly where I want to be, I am sure the cosmos will let us all know our places sooner then later...
Thanks Cristina for keeping this topic alive.
Brightest Blessings,

Thank you, Yasmine.
We have been looking into sustainable living for a while now.
Just like you we did not know where our hearts wanted to set roots.
And then one day Spirit guided us here where we are now.
I am passionate about creating sacred space and co-creating with nature.
Following my cal as an earth intuitive and feng shui was only natural to fall in love with cob building and other things.
I believe like you in the return to nature in co-creative and symbiotic ways.
I will share more as progress is being made.
Blessings
