I beleive that the combination of convenience and utility is the winning combination! Here is a 15 second electrolyte drink (not necessarily in this order, except for #7 )
1) Pour cup of water
2) Pour a little lemon juice (from bottle of 100% lemon juice)
3) Pour a dollop of honey
4) Add a pinch of sea salt
5) Add a pinch of baking soda
6) Stir vigorously
7) Drink!
Admittedly most times (like after really long hot runs) I am so zoned out and thirsty I just go straight for the water and the heck with the thinking about things and all that, thats something for later! But I know that nothing beats lemonade on a hot day, except lemonade after a hard workout! Well, hopefully I've provided some inspiration. The only thing better than a good drink after a run is the *bliss* that accompanies the run, the total zoning out, the euphoric zen like state that is peace and mind and nothing nothing. You know when your out there (grin!) Its worth losing sleep over even if you have to exercise late - since the benefits roll over into the next day and days.
I once had a simple cup of beer before going to bed after a 10 mile run and was chronically dehydrated all night (even after drinking H2O) like crazy. I probably could have drank electrolyte drink instead but I learned a lesson. Hydration is taken for granted but our body is mostly water - toxins exit the body this way every day through sweat and urine. So hydration is really key to our detox processes. Electrolyte drink is like the delivery system to get the water into the cells, so toxins can leave the cells through the water. Its really quite simple and beautiful actually! Only when your chronically dehydrated (and feel it) can you truly appreciate the beauty of being hydrated.
Oh, Lilly had a previous post about the beauty of lemon juice. Which is really good, its nice to know lemon juice has so many benefits! But nothing beats lemonade for sure, except maybe watermelon! Excellent rehydration drink! |
