Soulmates

The term ’soulmates’ has become very well know and well used in our vocabularies today. I would like to share with you my personal definitions and thoughts of this word.

“A soul mate is someone to whom we feel profoundly connected, as though the communication and communing that take place between us were not the product of intentional efforts, but rather a divine grace. This kind of relationship is so important to the soul that many have said there is nothing more precious in life.” (Thomas Moore).

All the clichés about love at first sight arise from the real experience of this [this link takes you to a further explanation of soul contracts] recognizing someone we love from a past life. The intense and immediate sense of intimacy in such a connection is powerful, and throughout the years it has become obvious through my spiritual reading work that everyone wants to have a magical soul mate experience. The usual questions cover a range of course, from, “Will I ever find my soul mate?” to “Is he/she my soul mate?” to, “I thought he/she was my soul mate, what happened?”

It is a very powerful experience when you look into the eyes of someone you’ve just met and feel you’ve known this person forever. Chances are that you have known this person and have spent numerous lifetimes together. and now, in this incarnation, you’re reconnecting again. This person may end up being your lover, spouse, or at least a dear friend or NOT. These are what are referred to as soulmates; and there seems to be more and more recognition and acknowledgement of these special ‘connections’ happening in our daily lives these past few years.

This is the general terminology used to describe soul mate….spouse/lover, relative or dear friend. This sense of immediate connection arises from unconscious or soul memories of previous loving experiences. A “soul mate,” then, is someone with whom we have shared many loving past life experiences. If we look at all the people we’ve loved long and well in this lifetime alone, it becomes clear that we are not limited to just one “soul mate” for all eternity, or even for each lifetime.

However, I like to make the distinction between terms, as I like to refer to soulmates as a spouse or lover and all other very close relations as being ‘kindred spirits’-those with whom we’ve spent many lifetimes together and who share a close bond, but have no physical intimacy with. A ‘twin flame’ is someone who is so exactly like you. it’s as if you came from the same cosmic mold and can actually be very overwhelming and UNCOMFORTABLE! This is a most powerful bond and one that is much more rare and hard to explain. Suffice it to say, I don’t personally believe that too many people actually get to experience their ‘twin flame’ in the physical world.

We are all spiritual beings-regardless of our ’status’ on this plane-and we all belong to what is called ’soul groups’. Soul groups are a group or cluster of souls who repeatedly incarnate together. and help one another. on this earthy plan. There are many, many reasons for this but it all boils down to soul development and growth and ‘contracts’ that we have agreed to prior to incarnation.

It is also true that some people we have negative feelings towards are here to help us grow too. and we’ve most likely had past life experiences with them as well. If you’ve encountered someone whom you disliked immediately, you probably had a negative experience with this person in a past life. and, ideally, the situation is being or will be rectified and the ‘karma’ burned or balanced. I learned more from some of my most ‘challenging’ relationships than from many other pleasant ones, and it is said too, somewhere that our greatest enemies are also our greatest teachers. Remember, we all came here to learn, heal and grow as we move toward Enlightenment and Unconditional Love. and some may have had more lifetimes than others, but I do not believe in ’spiritual snobbery’…just because someone may seem or act ‘less than ‘Spiritual’ gives us no right to judge them as good or bad, less or more of a person, only DIFFERENT and EXACTLY where they need to be for their OWN growth and learning.

In terms of relationship issues, some people think that something is ‘wrong’, because relationships never seem to work out. or they may not have one at all. What is usually the case if you are not finding and STAYING with ‘the one’ so to speak, is that one is being ‘reserved’ for that special soul connection that you are destined to be in. So it may happen that one experiences a period of time without being in a relationship or may find a series of short lived connections. Unfortunately, one can rarely predict when their special soul connection may occur. It may happen early in life. or much later or possibly not at all. I always feel that ANY relationship should be viewed as ‘the one’ at the time. We are ALWAYS with the ’significant’ other’ in our lives for a REASON. It may not be for a lifetime or even for a long time. If we can start to look at all our relationships and especially our intimate ones as ‘lessons’ whether they are easy or HARD, it can become easier to see a pattern and learn to figure out WHY and WHAT we need to learn. I feel personally, we are with exactly who we need to be with ( or not, for that matter, if we are in a period of aloneness).

Now, however, I’m seeing and even experiencing myself, clear evidence of more and more soul connecting taking place as we have now entered the so called ‘Aquarian Age’. This is due to the fact that we are becoming more ’spiritually realized’ beings on a conscious level; and being in a loving, soul centered relationship if far more important and relevant. What an wonderful times we are living in!…whether you are with your soul mate, looking for that person or not even sure what it is. The BEST way to attract good and loving relationships is to work on yourself and be all that you can be for YOU. I firmly believe also, that we attract ’similar’ energies to ourselves to mirror and grow by. If we are not balanced and secure within ourselves, chances are we will attract people of similar states. Often times too, we may meet a soul mate and although all the right ‘ingredients’ are there, fear, guilt, and human emotion can tear them away from us. There are as many reasons for a relationship NOT to work as for it to work. Even if you do meet a potential ’soul mate’ there is never any guarantee that it will be easy or lasting.

People often ask, how do I recognize or know that I have found my soul mate? Oh a physical level, I personally find the eyes, hands and the sound of one’s voice to be the most telling indicator of a soul mate or kindred spirit. The eyes are so familiar. and seem to ’see’ into our very soul…know us without knowing us. There is also something very familiar and ‘haunting’ about the sound of the voice. and the look, feel and movement of the hands. It is a feeling of being with an old friend…like you just saw each other ‘yesterday’. The feeling of IMMEDIATE ‘comfort’ or even ‘discomfort’ upon looking into the persons eyes, speaking with them. It is really hard to put the ‘feeling’ into words…but I can guarantee you just KNOW it when you experience it.

On a deeper level, a soul mate or kindred spirit is someone you readily feel a profound sense of trust, comfort, and ease. You can often communicate without words. where one seems to know what the other is thinking or about to say. There is a deep knowing. and certainty between you. that there is, indeed, a special bond. and that love will continue to grow and evolve.

If you feel you’ve connected with a soul mate or kindred spirit. believe in it and trust in Spirit to speak divine Truth to you through your own heart and intuition. You have got a direct link with the divine Source; and divine Wisdom, Truth and Love will be revealed through your heart more than by any other means. For ‘it is only through the heart that one sees rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.’ Nobody can tell you any better or clearer than what your own intuition can rely in a matter of a ’split second’ and as you learn to follow that feeling, it will guide you to your soulmates, kindred spirits and ultimately maybe even your ‘twin flame’.

Also understand this. We are creators. As creators, we are not so much here to discover or “find” our fates as we are here to CREATE our destinies. We have free will. We are inventing new possibilities with every decision we make, every idea we imagine, every desire we allow to flow through us. Rather than trying to recreate a type of relationship we’ve read about or seen in the movies, we might aim to create new levels of intimacy, deeper layers of passion, stronger bonds of Love based on our OWN needs in THIS lifetime. For those who want to love deeply, passionately and well, I recommend we spend less time “looking for” our soulmates, and more time CREATING them. These spiritual bonds must begin somewhere and somehow. Although we DO create them in EVERY LIFETIME, why not here and now?

Signs To Look For In A Soulmate

How will you know you have met your soul mate? Here are some of the indications given by others who have had the experience… Chances are you’ve met through a set of unusual circumstances that were totally unplanned and unexpected.

* There is a powerful, instantaneous feeling that you have known the other before.
* You felt an immediate and deep connection for one another.
* There is an electrifying feeling between the two of you that words cannot describe.
* The relationship is immediate, as though no time had been lost since you were last together.
* It feels as though you had never really lived before the reunion occurred.
* You feel a deep sense of sacredness and unity with God that you’ve have never known before.
* It brings on feelings you never thought possible.
* The two of you are inseparable.
* When you look into each other’s eyes, time and space have no meaning.
* There are no barriers between the two of you. The relationship is a totally open one.
* Your conversations seem to go on forever.
* The two of you have a strong urge to serve humanity in a deep and meaningful way.
* You give to the other and never think of receiving in return.
* There is a special sacredness to your relationship that transcends anything you’ve ever experienced before.
* You still have karma with your twin from previous lives, but the two of you resolve it all with total forgiveness and unconditional love.
* Neither one of you are dependent on the other for your sense of self.
* There is a strong sense of unlimitedness eternity to your feelings.
* Your feelings for each other are very spiritual.
* There are no restrictions within the relationship. All is freedom without the need for ownership or control.
* The two of you know without doubt that you have been brought together for a reason.
* You do not compete with one another nor do you pretend to be other than who you are.
* In spite of your sameness, there is no doubt you feel a sense of completion through the other.
* Trust, patience and acceptance of each other’s weaknesses happen automatically.
* There is a great sense of purpose and meaning to the relationship.
* Your sexuality with one another is a sacred act that celebrates the unconditional love you have for one another.
* The two of you become more and more one, without losing your individual identities.
* When you look into the other’s eyes, you see yourself.
* You experience a sense of completeness that is without comparison.
* The degree of intimacy and friendship the two of you develop is without parallel.
* You recognize that the two of you are God mates.

There is no doubt that some of the symptoms described above are common to ALL soul mate relationships. What really sets the depth of the union apart from all the rest is the profound degree of completeness experienced and the overwhelming sense of spirituality unique to these partnerships. Two other powerful symptoms of spiritually mature souls is their powerful connection to God and their desire to serve humanity in some meaningful way.

There is also a very sacred sense of intimacy and feeling of divinely inspired wholeness that one finds within a deep soul mate relationship. It is not by accident nor is it without purpose. Rather, it is a magnificent and loving part of our Creator’s plan for us. There is no doubt that the intensity behind the soul mate union is more than enough to jump start the journey that will lead us back to our Source, which will happen someday.

The First Meeting

As mentioned by Omraam Mikhael Ivahov, twin souls meet about twelve times in our human incarnations. That means before this last sojourn, there could have been at least eleven previous meetings. Every meeting would have been melodramatic, memorable and electric. According to Sufi teachings, twin souls are like two Roman rings interlocking with each other. They may come very close when they enter a relationship in an incarnation, which means the two rings almost superimpose. But when they separate due to disagreements or reincarnating in different countries, the rings try to break away, but it is not possible. They remain inter-linked throughout their sojourns on earth and during intermissions in spirit. There is always a varying amount of common space between the two rings. During any twin-soul encounter, it is bound to be hypnotically momentous. A special feeling of energy seems to pass from one to the another beyond their control. This passage of energy is both nice and exciting. This is twin soul recognizing one another without involving the intellect. These twin souls encounter the same feeling and the same quality of love and it means the end of their loneliness. However, not all meetings of twin souls end well. Some cannot even get together. Some divorce after marriage, and they die without fulfillment. Of course, these are not their last incarnations.

Now in the last meeting before their ascent to the spiritual realms, both twins are either enlightened or nearly so. Therefore at this stage the recognition must be mutual. As they are so developed their mission in this last incarnation has a common purpose. Having the same aspirations, both would be working for the good of humanity. Their same intensity of love and compassion would make them persistent in their common pursuit. One could be the leader or innovator whilst the other is the steady workhorse. Both must be preferably, in either in arts or in science. So that the effort is not dissipated by one being in the arts and the other in science. However, this fact is not essential. Their common goal is generally to uplift and enhance the quality of humanity. Both could be in the healing profession or in the promotion of arts etc. Even if they do not work in the same place, having the same vision their work could become complimentary, since they have the same preferences, tastes and predilection. Their mental capacity is of the same order. Their tastes in food, music and sense of humour are all the same. Both will either like the mountains or the sea. Their handwriting and the lines on their palms are similar. At this stage of development, they both possess a polished sense of humour and are good-natured. One could go on ad nauseam. You have to meet a couple of twin souls yourself to see how much in unison they behave. Of course, as human beings there may be twin souls who still have some differences and friendly competition may ensue. The outcome is the betterment of humanity. The so-called fight would not last long and the make-up is the sweeter. Sometimes twin souls appear to be doing the same thing at the same time, e.g. writing letters to one another at the same time.

Before the meeting, the twins usually can sense that the time is coming near for them to meet. Then when they meet during the last incarnation, the charged electricity and explosion would indicate in no uncertain terms that ‘this is it’. However, this is not the end. Rather, it is the beginning of an ongoing process in this last incarnation. Both have still to develop and practice. Both have to continue to work at themselves so that their perfection will entitle them to journey in the spiritual realms forever never to return to earth.

When they do meet, the age difference is of no consequence to them. The disparity could be as much as fifty years, but it is totally of no importance to the twins. They do not try to change each other for both accept each other as they are. Both are usually in the same state of health: both are either healthy or both are in the same state of incapacity. Both normally have strong telepathic linkages, and if one is sad so is the other.

Conversely, happiness in one very often infects the other even though they may be thousands of miles apart. Lastly, both tend to incarnate into similar social circumstances; otherwise some difficulties may arise due to the disparate social status.

TWIN SOULS ..

Its not about you, and its not about me,
Its bigger than both of us, as you will see.
Its all about our dear Earthmother.
For she and her humans are transcending 3D.

Its part of our agreements, and promises made,
Back in a time when we were becoming afraid.
Where we started to fall from Earths dear grace
We knew we were losing our spiritual place.

As Souls go to work
To make sure we meet,
But first we must stand
On our own two feet.

To walk our own Truth
And live our own Freedom
To be sovereign self.
No following, no leading.

This is Souls final gift to us all,
In our past miserable lives, all we did was fall,
To experience our karmas, we called in our share
And our love was corrupted, simply not there.

Twin Souls resonate a particular power,
This is why they are guided to meet.
To experience the ultimate in our finest hour.
Earth, Soul and Humanity complete.

The blessings bestowed on an ascending couple,
Are not just twice, much more than double.
It is a hundred times over this energy empowered
Earthmother and Soul use hour by hour.

These couples will be walking their spiritual truth,
In loving harmony, not necessarily in youth.
For it is the aging, the mastery attained.
Inner work done, the spirit maintained.

It really is a grand Soul Reunion,
We are being sorted out from above.
Its all about agreements, ascension, Divine Union.

Oh Donna,

What a wonderful explanation! I never knew all of this, I thought it was simpler then that, haha

Well I completely resonate with this!
I found my soulmate who I am married to (but already knew that!) and the Twin Soul, wow, put into words it feels so much more REAL, I guess the relationship is much more otherworldly then it is physical, we have an astral connection, and its really true we did things at the same time without plan--, it just feels like I had the positive outcomes and she had the negative ones, there is a powerful telepathic connection which includes a sense of humour!

Subconsciously however, I think we share a reservoir of emotions that makes it difficult to separate whose is who, because they feel part of the same.

Just wanted to add this observation...

Soul Mates

My Soul mate relationship is very different, It feels like everything fits, like puzzle pieces, we are not the same, but completely compatible and harmonious but if we were the same there would be no sexual tension between us, he fills my gaps, and I fill his, we fit together perfectly, whereas my Twin soul is the same as me we don't fit together we are just the same, gender its androgenous in nature, she shares the same pleasures and desires, I feel them when she passes through me in an exchange of energies (astrally), but my desires are only ever focused toward my soul mate.

These are the main differences I feel between the soul mate relationship and the twin soul, and this also make sense to me that twin souls are not neccessarily lovers.

Step 1 – Accept and Love Yourself: fully, completely, deeply


This is the very secret in attracting Love and great relationships.
Some people might say: it’s selfish to love yourself.

This comes from an unhealthy belief system that is based on shame or guilt and implies that loving yourself is a bad thing.

To love yourself means to have a healthy self esteem that doesn’t come from arrogance but from confidence. Detrimental belief systems have to be changed to beneficial belief systems.

Example of a detrimental belief system:
“I don’t love myself, I am not worthy”

Example of a beneficial belief system:
“I love myself because I simply Exist”

Think about: your mother and father created you. You are born out of Love. You exist, you made it in this world successfully. This is the very reason why you should love yourself.
When you love yourself you radiate a high frequency.
When you don’t love yourself you radiate energy of fear or insecurity.



Soul mate relationships last if they are based on love, understanding and compassion.

Love is the Higher vibration in Existence and this is LAW that I didn’t make. It is Universal.

In order to love Yourself you have to raise yourself to this High Vibration of Love.
That means love yourself with all the flaws, the dark or shadow side as well as the light aspect of yourself.

This is not the type of narcissistic or selfish love which actually comes from lack of Love. This is the love that comes from within, from your soul, from your heart.

When you reach this high vibration of love, you attract people who are on the same vibration.

People that are on a lower vibration who are willing to shift to a higher vibration might get inspired and motivated by you to rise to the Love vibration. This means that you are not only changing your life, but help other change their life. Cool!

Other people who are not willing to raise their vibration will not match yours, so they will not be part of your reality. Hence you will attract only great successful relationships.

Step 2 – Internal Work


You might ask: If I am perfect why do I need to improve.
A master will always improve him/herself to reaching beyond perfection.
The work starts within – I like to call it the invisible world work.
In other words, work is in your mind, heart and soul.

Meditate on the idea of self love.
Pray and ask Spirit to show you the way.
Do deep thinking on the idea of Love.
Use Spiritual Tools to help you change the false belief system into a true belief system that will change your life.

Step 3 – Letting Go


Let go of the idea that you need to attract the soul mate/loving relationships.
That doesn’t mean giving up on LOVE, No. And this might sound contradictory but when you Love yourself you don’t need anyone to complete you as you are whole.
You feel good and happy in your presence. You feel good in your skin, in your body, in your heart.

When you reach this level you will attract more and more people in your life that are also complete and happy with themselves.
Miracles happen at this level. That’s because we let go of expectations.
