*** I want you to have a look at the following table; the German chemist Wilhelm Koenigs' famoust list of chemicals that compose the human body.

Element - Percent - Key Function

Oxygen - 59.0 - Cell and tissue resperation, water
Carbon - 23.0 - Protoplasm
Hydrogen - 9.0 - Water, tissue
Calcium - 2.0 - Bone and teeth
Nitrogen - 2.5 - Protein tissue
Phosphorus - 2.3 - Bone and teeth
Chlorine - 1.0 - Electrolyte
Sulfur - .2 - Amino acids, hair and skin
Potassium - .1 - Intracellular electrolyte
Sodium - .1 - Extracellular electrolyte
Flourine - .1 - Bones and teeth
Magnesium - .1 - Metabolic electrolyte
Silicon - .1 - Connective tissue
Iron - .1 - Hemglobin, oxygen carrier
Iodine - .003 - Thyroid hormones
Manganese - trace - Metallo-enzyme
Zinc - trace - Metallo-enzyme
Copper - trace - Enzyme cofactor
Molybdenum - trace - Enzyme cofactor
Chromium - trace - Glucose tolerance factor
Strontium - trace - Bone integrity
Selenium - trace - Enzyme, antioxidant, detoxification
Cobalt - trace - Vitamin B12 core
Vanadium - trace -Lipid metabolism

I want you to consider briefly what happens to your body when you are missing one or more of these elements.
When the body lacks one or more chemical element, the tissue structure is weakened, the cell function is impaired and health problems can develop. The reason for this is nutrients combine in the body to form such critical materials as hormones, enzymes, and proteins. If the body is missing zinc and chromium, for instance, the pancreas cannot properly manufacture insulin. The inability of the pancreas to manufacture insulin results in diabetes, a degenerative condition in which the tissues are unable to obtain sugar from the blood.*

A shortage of one mineral may cause more damage in one organ than another because of differences in chemical composition of some of our organs and tissue structures. A potassium shortage, for example, will affect every tissue in the body a little, but it will harm the heart muscle more than any other tissue. This is because potassium acts as a heartbeat regulator. A deficiency of potassium can result in racing of heartbeat, called tachycardia.
Let's look at some of the organs and tisues, and consider their nutrient needs. The table below shows some specific components of specific body organs and tissues.

Organ or Tissue - Components

Blood - calcium, cobalt, copper, iron, potassium, sodium, zinc

Blood vessels - copper, magnesium, rutin, silicon

Bones - calcium, copper, flourine, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, silicon

Bowel - calcium, chlorine, flourine, iodine, iron, potassium, sodium

Brain, Nerves - calcium, iodine, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, silicon, sodium, sulfur

Heart - calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium

Joints - iron, manganese, sodium, silicon

Kidneys - calcium, chlorine, flourine, iron, magnesium, potassium, silicon, sodium

Liver - iron, magnesium, potassium, selenium, sulfur, zinc

Lungs - calcium, manganese, phosphorous

Skin, Hair, Nails - calcium, copper, fatty acids, manganese, silicon, sodium, sulfur, zinc

Spleen - copper, flourine, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium

Suppose the liver was deprived of zinc, selenium, sulfur, and iron. The liver would then be sluggish, slow in its functions, defective in its performance, or weak in its ability to defend itself or to repair damaged tissue. The liver's job is to manufacture thousands of enzymes, manufacture bile for the digestion of fats and oils, process many nutrients into usable forms, detoxify the blood and bowel, and store sugar for energy. Having this immense agenda 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for potentially more than 100 years, its need for the nutrients out of which it manufactures what it needs to accomplish all its tasks cannot be overstated. The minerals (which are imortant to assist the body in energy production), amino acids, and vitamins the liver needs are supposed to come from plants which, in turn, should get them from the soil.

So we see how our bodies can become vulnerable in a particular organ or system if the diet is deficient in the natural chemical elements needed to nourish those particular tissues (I didnt see any element of Advil or Motrin-did you?! Razz Darko)
That is why a disease may settle into one part of the body rather than another. Or, if you notice that some of the same chemical elements feed several organs, you will understand that all of them can be affected by the same deficiencies.

Usually, the chemical deficiency (and later symptoms of disease) affects inherently weak tissue, not strong 'normal' tissue. Strong tissue more effectively assimilates the chemical elements it needs than does inherently weak tissue. The inherently weak tissue is not able to absorb nutrients nor dispose of waste as effectively as does strong tissue.

Empty Harvest-Understanding the Link Between Our food, Our Immunity, and Our Planet. ~ by Dr. Bernard Jensen & Mark Anderson

"Our health depends on how nearly we live in harmony with Nature's laws. The true science of eating and feeding should be thoroughly understood by all - what elements the system requires in order to build and repair, how best to supply them and how to prepare them in the most appetizing manner and without destroying their life-giving properties. Wrong habits of eating and the use of refined and adulterated foods are largely responsible for the intemperance, crime, and sickness that curse this world." ~ Jethro Kloss
