Emotional Eating Usually occurs after 4:00p.m. and is guaranteed to be occuring after 8:00 p.m. (IF you watch T.V. this is around the time they ironically "hit" you with food commercials).

As our day slows down we are in more of a position to feel what is not going right in our life and are more apt to use food as a means of suppressing these awarenessess and feelings. When we eat to satisfy a physical need or a nutrient deficiency that purpose is usually filled within a few days or a week at most. If the cravings seems to persist for longer than a few days or always appears at the same time each day, week or month, chances are you are eating for emotional reasons.



Craving : Emotional Connection


CHOCOLATE : Hungry for Love
(feeling rejected)

DAIRY PRODUCTS : ANTIDEPRESSANT FOODS
Choline = Soothing
L-tryptophan = Calming
Sugar & lactose = TemporaryEnergy
Creamy texture = Comforting


NUTS AND CRUNCHY SNACK FOODS :
SALTY = Stress, Anger and Anxiety
NUTS = Cravings for fun


LIQUIDS : Up/Down Energy Cycles


HIGH FAT FOOD : Filling Emptiness


SPICY FOOD : Drive for Excitement


BREAD AND STARCH : Comfort and Calming

Will is of divine origin and is easy to execute when all our actions are in tune with God's will. Food stimulants replace the spiritual love currents. Therefore, when you wish something, stop to consider whether your body really needs it.
The image of self is very important. It develops, in the most subtle way, from pre-natal period onward. A poor image of self creates anxiety, which is discomforting. This leads to a course of action to reduce discomfort. Since anxiety is mainly a mind-emotion activity, anything that reduces the energy level in the brain will also reduce anxiety. When you eat, the vital forces of the body become centralized in digestion. Many people even feel sleepy if they eat too much. The awareness of self and its contrast with the ideal self is lowered; thus anxiety is relieved. When you were a baby, mother relieved your anxieties by giving you food. When older, you try subconsciously to duplicate the experience.
No matter how difficult your childhood may have been, it is not too late to change the self-image. Read books and increase your knowledge in the field of positive thinking. (I will later post some spiritual and psychological books for reference). The inspirational writings from great spiritual texts have even more to offer.

Participate in meditation, sensitivity and encounter sessions. Discover the cause of anxiety and make every effort daily to overcome it. Unless the cause of stress and anxiety is discovered and eliminated, prolonged tension can cause mental and physical exhaustion. Unloving thoughts towards others or self cause ones glands to secrete strong stimulants/hormones. Your subconscious does not diffrentiate between phychic threats and physical dangers; it handles both in the same manner. The secretion creates increased heart rate, breathing and muscular tension. When the hormone system is continuously activated for emergency physical activity (fight or flight sympathetic-system) by psychological stress, your inner harmony becomes destroyed (acidifying).
Much of our uncontrolled appetite is the result of toxemia or anxiety. We experience discomforting withdrawal symptoms when we abstain from addictive "poisonous food or unloving thoughts." We have to find a substitute for feasting, something that can offer greater satisfaction; don't feast, fast! Generally the creative, active, productive, spiritual, philosophical individuals are small eaters. They have found pleasure that is far superior to the low levels of stimulation and stupefaction associated with food.
The best substitute is making one's life a joyful adventure. Find out what really pleases you. Take time to be alone with yourself, this will help you to see things clearly. Become the creator of the 'real' you (that which is in tune with the laws of nature).Visualize the 'new' you daily. Discover it. Fall in love with this vision. See where your feelings spring from your past negative experiences, and not the present. Choose to do that which creates good inner feelings instead of feelings of dissatisfaction. Stop repeating old addictions. Enjoy the present you, you can recreate yourself daily. Eventually you will develop a blissful spontaneity that radiates love to everyone.
Don't persecute yourself too severly when you fail. Be compassionate with yourself. Praise yourself for your success and keep on moving. With perseverance and determination you will daily become more and more the person you want to be.
The you of today is creating the you of tomorrow. Spend energies in becoming the person you want to be instead of struggling against past images and addictions. The more good you do the less time and energy you will have to do the things which hinder your personal growth. Seek out similarly attuned people.
Egoism and greed are the cause of much anxiety and hate. From the study of laws of natures you will find new things that are worth doing and keeping. Be discriminating; like what is worth liking, but love everyone for all are your teachers. Don't judge, be here in the now.
If daily, you feed your mind with optimism, constructive thoughts, and only useful, loving information, it will speed you to health and God consciousness. Any cleansing-emotional or physical-is a process. You have to be honest to know thyself. We must flush out emotional blockages with a fast of love and self-discovery. (Read under Miscellaneous: Questions to Ask Yourself Everyday, by Lilly).
To lessen anxiety temporarily, choose a challenging activity. A simple task such as cleaning a room, washing dishes, fixing a machine, building a fence, yoga, prayer, or exercise can be very therapeutic. Psychic energy is converted to physical activity. It temporarily diverts you from the threadmill of negative emotions. After finishing your task, you have strengthened your self-concept by having something visible of which to be proud.

Your body is accustomed natively to interpret sweet (yin), salty (yang) and flavours as "good". Of course the mold, additives and toxins are "bad". When you mix them, what is your body able to read? The "good" always win.
Food that is concocted can only be interpreted by your intelligence. Your body's inner wisdom is incapable of proper discernment.



* PICKLES - They supply vinegar and are often loved by persons with little acid in their stomach or a lot of yeast. (Vinegar is an inhibitor). Start drinking water with lemon juice or applecider vinegar and honey.

*BACON - The fat soothes the stomach and slows down digestion. (High in smoked preservatives sucha as nitrates). Switch to organic natural fats, or butter/cream, with meals.

*SUGAR COATED CEREALS - Loved by persons with disturbanced sugar regulations (MOST of US!). Kill parasites, avoid wood alcohol, take chromium tablets and a lot of cinnamon.

* CRUNCHY MUNCHIES - Your jaw and teeth want some work to do. Try mixed salads, an apple, raw sunflower seeds etc. (seeds/nuts should be soaked in water and Vit. C to destroy molds).

*ICE CREAM - Ice cold foods stimulate the thyroid; loved by low thyroid persons. Clean up the thyroid by doing dental work and liver cleanses.

* CAFFEINE (Laced beverages) - Stimutale many body tissues and raise blood pressure. Loved by low energy people. Do general body/diet and environmental cleanup!

* CANDY - The more you eat the more you crave because chromium is being used up as you eat it and yet it is necessary to utilize more sugar. Give yourself Chromium GTF tablets totalling 1 mg. (1,000 mcg) a day and watch your sugar cravings shrink.

*PRETZELS - You want salt plus crunch
*POTATOE CHIPS - You want salt, grease, starch and crunch.

Increase the variety of organic whole foods, esp. grains, vegetables, and good fats (EFA's)!!!
